The episode starts with Lakshmi receiving a call from Sonu at midnight on her birthday. Sonu wishes Lakshmi a happy birthday and talks to her for a while before ending the call. Lakshmi reflects on how she used to celebrate every birthday with Mangal and wishes she could do the same today. Suddenly, she hears a noise coming from downstairs and goes to check it out.
Lakshmi heads downstairs, where Adit’s family surprises her and wishes her a happy birthday. Lakshmi asks Mangal if she still remembers her birthday. Mangal replies that she could never forget it and adds that this year, someone else was more excited about celebrating her birthday than she was. Karthik steps in and wishes Lakshmi a happy birthday. Lakshmi admits she thought Karthik would still be angry with her, but Karthik assures her that he can never stay mad at her for long. Mangal reveals that Karthik made all the arrangements for this surprise party, while she only baked the cake. Lakshmi looks at the cake and later asks Karthik where Gayatri is. Sanjana comments that Umesh has taken Gayatri out. However, Gayatri arrives shortly after and remarks that while her son and daughter-in-law might forget her, she could never forget Lakshmi’s birthday. She presents Lakshmi with a bouquet and wishes her a happy birthday. Mangal then gifts Lakshmi a dress that she made herself. Lakshmi is impressed with the dress and expresses her gratitude. Karthik suggests that Lakshmi wear the dress to cut the cake. Lakshmi agrees and heads upstairs to change.
Meanwhile, Sanjana comments to Gayatri about how pale she’s looked ever since Lakshmi arrived in the house. Later, Gayatri bumps into Shanti, who makes a remark about her appearance.
Ishana accuses Akshat of being a liar, leading to an argument. Adit intervenes and asks what’s going on. Ishana explains that her watch has a lie detector app that reads pulse rates and heart signatures to determine whether someone is lying. If the light turns green, they are telling the truth; if it turns red, they are lying. Kusum dismisses the idea, saying no such app exists and that it’s just a game. Ishana insists that it always works and suggests they play it while waiting for Lakshmi. Adit is hesitant, but Sanjana pushes him to play, asking if he has anything to hide. Adit eventually agrees.
The first question is directed at Gayatri. Sanjana asks if Gayatri thinks Lakshmi is worthy of being the daughter-in-law of the house. Gayatri says no, and the light turns green, indicating she is telling the truth. Realizing her mistake, Gayatri quickly adds that Lakshmi still has a lot to learn to be a suitable daughter-in-law. Mangal agrees, saying she also feels there’s more to learn. Kusum reassures Mangal, telling her she is the best daughter-in-law. Gayatri excuses herself to check if Lakshmi is ready.
Lipika receives a message from Sowmya asking if she has completed her task, and Lipika begins to worry about Mangal.
When Gayatri checks on Lakshmi, she sees her wearing the dress Mangal gifted her. Gayatri criticizes the dress and tells Lakshmi that as the wife of Karthik Nigam, she should wear something more fitting. Gayatri then gives Lakshmi another dress to wear for her birthday celebration, and Lakshmi reluctantly agrees.
Kusum asks Mangal if she’s happy in her marriage. Mangal initially says no but quickly changes her response, expressing how happy she is with her marriage and how much her family loves her. Lipika becomes emotional, realizing that Mangal is content, yet she is about to destroy it. Mangal comforts Lipika, asking what’s wrong. Lipika dismisses it, saying she just got a little emotional.
Lipika then turns to Adit and asks if he has ever loved anyone other than Mangal. Adit says no, but the light turns red. Akshat accuses Adit of lying, and the others press Adit for the truth. Adit removes the watch and explains that it’s unrealistic for a man to love only one woman. He admits that while Mangal is important to him, Kusum was his first love, followed by Ishani. Mangal supports Adit, adding that a man’s first love is always his mother. Seeing this, Lipika realizes her plan has failed and decides she has no choice but to get Mangal’s signature on the divorce papers.
Lakshmi returns wearing the dress Gayatri gifted her. Mangal compliments her, and Lakshmi apologizes for not wearing the dress Mangal gave her. Mangal reassures her that it’s okay. Lakshmi cuts the cake and celebrates with everyone.
Later, Lipika approaches Mangal and asks her to sign some papers, claiming the delivery boy is waiting outside. Mangal agrees but is interrupted when she sees Adit coughing and rushes to help him. As she assists Adit, her mangalsutra falls off.
Lipika receives another message from Sowmya asking if the task is complete. Lipika replies that it is.
Sowmya calls Adit to inform him that Mangal has signed the divorce papers, and he is now free from her. Adit is pleased, but when Mangal approaches and tells him that her mangalsutra has fallen off, she asks him to put it back on her. Adit agrees and does so, while Sowmya believes no one can stop the divorce now.
Lipika tries to hide the divorce papers, but Shanti catches her. Lipika distracts Shanti and hides the papers among the plates. Later, Lipika notices that the papers are missing and panics. Kusum finds the papers but, unable to read them without her glasses, assumes they belong to Karthik and asks Akshat to place them in his room. Akshat agrees.
After the party, Lakshmi thanks God, and Gayatri reminds her that she should thank Karthik for arranging everything. Gayatri then notices the bed is untidy and asks Lakshmi to fix it. Lakshmi removes the dress Mangal gave her from the bed but doesn’t notice the divorce papers inside. Karthik arrives and asks Lakshmi to join him in opening the gifts, leaving the room with her.
The next day, Lakshmi finds the divorce papers hidden in the dress Mangal gave her and realizes that Adit wants to divorce Mangal.
Lipika gives Sowmya fake divorce papers, convincing her to delete the blackmail material from her phone. Lipika thinks it’s fortunate that Mangal hasn’t signed the actual divorce papers.
