The episode begins with Mangal looking at a photo of Sowmya and Adit. Mangal asks Sowmya what she is trying to do, reminding her that she had already told her not to say anything about Adit and Sowmya to Akshat. Sowmya responds that she wants to tell the truth, not lies. She tells Mangal that she and Adit have hidden their relationship for long enough. Sowmya asserts that, right now, she is Adit’s wife, not Mangal. Sowmya taunts Mangal, saying she has no idea what Sowmya is capable of. She then shows Mangal the divorce papers and asks if she is shocked to see her signature on them. Sowmya reveals that she got Lipika to sign the papers. She warns Mangal to stay within her limits, or she will show these papers to everyone and throw her out of the house. Mangal retorts that Sowmya is the one who is about to be shocked. She presents the real divorce papers, telling Sowmya that although she may have deceived Lipika, Lipika is still her sister. Mangal explains that Lipika made fake documents and gave them to her, and she has not signed any divorce papers. She declares that she still does not see Adit as her husband, as true relationships are made by the heart. Sowmya argues that Adit loves her, not Mangal, and says that now she is here to replace Mangal in the household. Mangal then asks Sowmya to come with her.
Meanwhile, Adit sees Kusum leaving for the temple and offers to give her a ride. Kusum declines, but Adit stops the car and talks to her. Adit explains that he married Sowmya because he doesn’t like Mangal but promises to fulfill his duties towards Sudesh, Kusum, Ishana, and Akshat. He asks Kusum to accept Sowmya, but Kusum refuses and criticizes Sowmya before leaving.
Mangal brings Sowmya in front of the Goddess and grants her the right to be the daughter-in-law of the house, with all the accompanying responsibilities. She instructs Sowmya to behave well with everyone. Mangal then asks if Sowmya believes she can fulfill these duties. Sowmya agrees and taunts her. Sowmya then suggests making things more interesting by challenging Mangal to leave the house if she proves to be a better daughter-in-law. Mangal agrees but sets a condition: Akshat must never find out about Adit and Sowmya’s relationship. Sowmya agrees.
Lakshmi shows Karthik a saree she made and asks how he likes it. Karthik responds that it’s fine. Lakshmi notices that Karthik seems troubled and asks him why. Karthik reveals that three of his shows have been canceled, which has never happened before. Gayatri arrives and says this was inevitable. She reminds Karthik that she advised him against canceling his shows, but he did so to take care of Lakshmi. Lakshmi apologizes, but Karthik assures her that it’s not her fault. He says that if he hadn’t taken care of her, he wouldn’t be able to look himself in the eye.
Kusum notices groceries and wonders who they belong to. Sowmya appears and tells her that she ordered them. Kusum learns from Sowmya that Mangal gave her the right to be the daughter-in-law of the house. Surprised, Kusum calls Mangal and asks if she truly gave Sowmya the right to be Adit’s wife. Mangal confirms, but Kusum questions Mangal’s authority to make that decision, saying that it should have been her right. Mangal pleads with Kusum to allow Sowmya to fulfill her role as daughter-in-law.
