The episode begins with the story set in Hyderabad, 1998.
Shiva swaps Bhagyasree’s baby with Divya’s baby in the hospital. He brings the baby downstairs and hands her over to Chitralekha.
Chitralekha tells the baby that just when Bhagyasree was about to give birth, her daughter-in-law Divya had also given birth to Chitralekha’s own granddaughter. She tells the baby that her only mistake is being born as Mahindra and Bhagyasree’s daughter and Kailashnath’s granddaughter. Chitralekha says her real granddaughter will now enjoy all the rights and live like a princess.
Chitralekha orders Shiva to finish Bhagyasree’s baby as he has already swapped them. She hands the baby back to Shiva. Shiva takes the baby and leaves. Chitralekha then calls Surya and asks him to kill Shiva. Surya agrees.
Chitralekha thinks to herself that Kailashnath always treated her son differently and now he must pay for it.
Shiva leaves the baby at a bus stop. Surya arrives in a truck, hits Shiva, and kills him.
Krishna reaches the bus stop and picks up the baby. Ravi, Chitralekha’s son, witnesses everything.
Mahindra shows the baby to Dharamjeet and says she looks just like him. Dharamjeet jokes that the baby wouldn’t be this beautiful if she had gotten his features.
Kanchan takes the baby and reminds Mahindra that Kailashnath had promised that if a granddaughter was born, she would be married to Karthik. Mahindra agrees and comments on the promise. Mahindra and Dharamjeet go to check on Divya.
Divya breaks down, believing her baby is dead. Mahindra, Dharamjeet, and Kanchan meet Chitralekha and Divya. Chitralekha tells Mahindra that Divya’s daughter is dead. Mahindra consoles her and asks her to accept his daughter as her granddaughter. Chitralekha agrees. Ravi keeps quiet about the baby swap.
At Kailashnath’s house, the family prepares for the Naamkaran ceremony of the newborn.
Kailashnath gets upset seeing Ravi and Divya and walks away when they try to take his blessings.
Chitralekha confronts Kailashnath, asking why he couldn’t accept Ravi as his son even though he knew she already had a child when he married her. Kailashnath replies that he accepted Ravi, but later Ravi had an illicit affair with a servant, so he broke their marriage. Chitralekha thinks to herself that this is why she swapped Ravi’s baby with Mahindra’s.
Kailashnath looks at the photo of his first wife Kanika and regrets marrying Chitralekha only to take care of his sons. He vows to correct his mistake.
During the Naamkaran, Kailashnath names the baby after his first wife, Kanika. Chitralekha becomes upset hearing her sautan’s name.
In Krishna’s house, he decides to conduct the Naamkaran ceremony for the baby and invites Bhanu and his mother. Bhanu’s mother arrives and blames the baby for Sumitra’s death. She asks Krishna to remarry and abandon the child. Krishna refuses and says he will live for his daughter. He names her Deepa and makes Bhanu’s mother swear not to reveal that Deepa is not his biological daughter.
Krishna performs the item-picking ritual to see Deepa’s future. He hopes she will pick a book and become a collector. Bhanu’s mother taunts that they don’t have enough money for UPSC coaching and says dreams should be practical. She throws a kitchen utensil, and Deepa picks it up. Bhanu’s mother says Deepa will become a chef like her father.
In Kailashnath’s house, they perform the item-picking ritual for Kanika. Chitralekha applies lipstick but drops it when Kailashnath shouts at her. Kanika picks up the lipstick. Dharamjeet happily says his daughter-in-law will enter the fashion industry. Kailashnath refuses and warns Chitralekha to stay away from Kanika, saying he doesn’t want her to influence the child. Chitralekha fumes silently.
Episode ends.
Precap: Deepa serves food to children. Jyoti’s daughter asks Deepa where her father is, and Deepa remains silent.
A debtor approaches Deepa and tells her to consider him as her husband, then he will forgive the debt. Deepa slaps him.
The debtor brings people and creates a scene, saying her husband took a loan six years ago and they still haven’t repaid it. Deepa says she will find her husband soon and repay the debt.
