The episode starts with Bhanu commenting on Karthik and Deepa’s pairing. Karthik stands between Bhanu and Deepa.
Deepa asks Bhanu why he is there and says that because of him, Jyoti is in the hospital. Bhanu asks Deepa to keep her voice down, reminding her that this is a hospital. Bhanu tells Deepa that he is Jyoti’s father and has as much right over Jyoti as she does. Karthik tells Bhanu that just because Jyoti has his blood does not mean he is her father. He adds that being a father is a responsibility and comments on it.
Bhanu asks Deepa whether she has not told Karthik about their deal. Karthik asks Deepa what deal Bhanu is talking about. Bhanu then explains the deal to Karthik.
Bhanu tells Karthik that Deepa will give Jyoti to him, and in return, he will give Deepa her freedom. Deepa reacts angrily and tells Bhanu that Jyoti is not an object to be bargained over. She asks Bhanu to leave. Bhanu refuses and says he will not leave because he is Jyoti’s father. He questions Deepa, asking if he is not Jyoti’s father, then who is.
Chitralekha asks Kanika if she has found out where Karthik is. Kanika tells her that Karthik’s live location is showing at Life Hospital. Chitralekha says no one in the house should know about this and asks Kanika to go to Karthik. Kanika agrees and leaves.
Bhanu again asks Deepa to tell him who Jyoti’s father is. Deepa says she does not need to prove her purity to him and asks him to leave. Bhanu questions why she is hesitating to reveal the truth and accuses her of staying silent because her reputation will be ruined. Karthik intervenes and tells Bhanu that he is Jyoti’s father, which is why he wrote his name in the father’s column on the admission form. Kanika witnesses this. Karthik asks Bhanu to leave and takes him away.
Kanika confronts Deepa and accuses her of trapping Karthik using Jyoti. Deepa tries to explain that Kanika is misunderstanding, but Kanika argues, saying Deepa called Karthik to stop her pre-engagement ceremony. Deepa tells Kanika that she does not know why Karthik came there. Kanika mocks her and asks who Jyoti’s father is, or if Deepa herself does not know. Deepa slaps Kanika and warns her to remember one thing: what truly belongs to someone cannot be taken away, and what can be taken never truly belonged to them. Deepa then leaves.
Deepa looks at Jyoti and recalls Kanika’s harsh words. She thinks that she does not care about what others think of her; she only cares about her daughter.
Karthik goes to Kanika and apologises. Kanika tells him that he has completely broken her heart. She questions Karthik and asks whether he truly loves her or not.
Episode ends.
Precap: Jyoti calls out for Karthik in her sleep. Karthik comforts her and assures her that he is there. Jyoti asks him not to go anywhere, saying that the demon (Bhanu) might come again to take her away. Karthik promises Jyoti that he will always be there for her and will never leave her.
Our Take:
Karthik’s strong stand for Jyoti proves that fatherhood is defined by responsibility, not blood. Deepa’s refusal to bargain over her daughter highlights her fierce motherhood and self-respect. However, Kanika witnessing Karthik’s claim as Jyoti’s father may create irreversible cracks in their relationship going forward.
