The episode starts with Mangal asking Kapil why Pratima is saying that the kids will stay at their grandparents’ house. She asks, “Did you forget the promise to me that the kids could stay with us?” Chinta Bua says the kids will stay at their father’s place and that they only want Kapil. Kapil tries to stop Chinta Bua, but she doesn’t listen. Chinta Bua tells Mangal, “I don’t know what Kapil told you, but the fact is, you need to keep your kids at your first sasural.” Kapil explains that it’s complicated, so he hadn’t told his family before and was waiting for the right time. Mangal asks, “When were you planning to tell them? We’re about to get married, and you haven’t said anything till now.”
Pratima says, “Kapil has supported you till now, Mangal, but why should we accept your kids?” She adds that the kids can visit sometimes but cannot completely shift to their house and asks Mangal to respond. Mangal says Kapil will answer. Chinta Bua creates a scene, complaining about how they will face their guests after this humiliation. She goes near the mandap, accidentally pulls a decorated cloth, which falls on a lit diya. Kapil rushes to support her. Mangal and Kapil’s family members start arguing, unaware that the mandap is catching fire.
Mangal recalls everything. Shanti sees the fire breaking out in the mandap and alerts everyone. They manage to put out the fire. Chinta Bua says it’s inauspicious, claiming that although Mangal’s name is good, she seems inauspicious. Mangal responds that maybe Devi Maa is indicating that this marriage should not happen. She tells Kapil, “I worked so hard on the Pehla Swad project to buy a house for my kids and live with them. I thought you would accept me along with my kids, which is why I agreed to marry you. I can leave everything, but I cannot leave my kids—they are my world, my life, my everything.” She asks Kapil to forgive her and declares she cannot marry him. Everyone is shocked by Mangal’s decision.
Chinta Bua says, “If you didn’t want to marry, you could have said so directly. Why create all this drama?” She accuses Mangal of never being ready to marry Kapil because she hasn’t moved on from her first husband. Kusum asks what she is talking about. Chinta Bua claims Mangal is still attached to her first husband even after divorce and calls her character bad. Mangal replies that she always makes decisions for her kids. Chinta Bua questions what mistake Kapil has made, complaining that his baraat will leave without a wedding. She pretends to feel sick, and Bijli gives her BP medicine.
Pratima tells Mangal that they did everything for her, considered her part of the family, and accepted her past—but how can she back out now? Mangal thanks them but explains she didn’t know they only accepted her, not her kids, and declares, “I cannot live without my kids.” Pratima asks Shanti to intervene because Mangal is disrespecting the family and insists her daughter marry Kapil so the baraat will not leave without the bride. Shanti tells Mangal, “You promised me to marry Kapil.” Mangal replies, “I remember, but I cannot leave my kids.” Shanti places Mangal’s hand on her head and says, “Give me another promise that you will not marry. Your decision is right, and I am with you. I want your happiness, not your marriage. I know your happiness is with your kids. You are a better mother than me, and your decisions are never wrong.” Shanti tells Pratima that Mangal will not marry. Mangal hugs Shanti with happy tears. Chinta Bua tells Pratima, “I told you before—you chose the wrong family for Kapil.” Shanti questions Pratima’s progressive thinking, saying marriage is meant to unite families, not separate a mother from her kids. She asserts that Mangal is independent, can live alone, and doesn’t need support from any man. Pratima tries to speak, but Kapil stops her and says, “Let’s go, Mom.” Mangal tries to talk to Kapil, but he stops her.
