The episode starts with Mangal questioning Sowmya about her relationship with Adit. Mangal asks Sowmya why she insists on staying here instead of going back to her own home. She points out that if Sowmya is just Adit’s colleague, what does Kusum mean to her? In a slip of the tongue, Sowmya accidentally calls Kusum her mother-in-law, but quickly corrects herself, saying that Kusum is like a mother to her. Mangal, however, accuses Sowmya of lying and calls her selfish, reminding her that she cut ties with her own family. Sowmya retorts, asking Mangal what right she has to make such accusations. Mangal responds that she has the same right as Sowmya, who is living in this house. Sudesh asks Mangal to clarify what she means, and Mangal reveals that she learned the truth about Sowmya at the temple.
A flashback shows Mangal meeting Shalini at the temple. Mangal tries to speak to Shalini about Sowmya, but Shalini refuses, stating that she doesn’t want to discuss her.
Mangal explains to everyone that Shalini told her Sowmya was the one who broke ties with her parents, not the other way around. She adds that Vinod had a stroke because of the stress caused by Sowmya’s actions.
Mangal then questions why Sowmya, who severed ties with her own family, is now trying to get close to theirs. She accuses Sowmya of deceiving the family and vows to stop her.
Meanwhile, Lakshmi tells Gayatri that everything is ready. Karthik is shown returning home, and Lakshmi makes up an excuse to follow him. Gayatri learns from Shobha, the maid, that Karthik is also fasting for Lakshmi. When Gayatri asks if Karthik had his breakfast, Shobha reveals that he gave it to the driver. Gayatri criticizes Shobha and sends her away, while Sanjana makes a comment about Karthik to Gayatri.
Back at the house, Sowmya defends herself, accusing Mangal of lying. Mangal swears by God that she is telling the truth. Sowmya responds by saying that if Mangal isn’t lying, then Shalini must be, though she doesn’t know why Shalini would do such a thing. Mangal scolds Sowmya for shamelessly accusing her own parents. Sowmya fires back, telling Mangal to be quiet. She explains that Shalini is upset with her because she refused a marriage proposal. Sowmya says she had the courage to say no to her parents and criticizes Mangal for marrying anyone her parents chose. She boasts about being educated and independent and tells Mangal to know her place. Kusum, enraged, slaps Sowmya and throws her out of the house. Shanti thanks Kusum for standing up for Mangal, and Kusum asserts that she will always stand by the truth.
Later, Lakshmi asks Karthik if he has a headache. Karthik says yes, and Gayatri suggests he take some medicine. Karthik declines at first but takes the medicine after Lakshmi insists. Seeing this, Gayatri mistakenly believes Karthik has broken his fast.
Shanti then asks Kusum to do something to end Adit and Sowmya’s alleged affair. Kusum reassures Shanti that Adit would never do such a thing.
Sowmya calls Adit and demands that he meet her immediately. Adit agrees but is stopped by Kusum, who asks him to stay for the pooja. Meanwhile, Sowmya sends Adit a message, warning him that if he doesn’t meet her, she will come to his house.
