The episode starts with Lakshmi suspecting that a third person is definitely involved and thinking she cannot trust the doctor’s report.
On the other side, a doctor is seen accepting a bribe from someone in exchange for giving a fake report to the police in Jia’s case. Lakshmi visits the concert venue again to inspect the location, but the police stop her from entering. While there, she notices Jia’s car in the parking lot. She unlocks it and searches for clues inside. She finds a medicine bottle in the car. Just then, she hears someone approaching.
The inspector informs Prema that she can now take Jia’s car as the court has granted permission. Prema says emotionally, “My daughter left me, but I want her car with me.” She starts the car and drives away. While on a call, Prema says, “Wait a little longer—Karthik will be punished. Gayatri’s accusations against Lakshmi are helping us, and now I’m heading home.” Lakshmi, watching from a distance, wonders who Prema is talking to. Prema arrives home, parks the car, locks it, and goes inside.
Lakshmi calls Dr. Khanna and inquires about the medicine she messaged him about. After checking, the doctor says, “This medicine slows down the heart rate.” Lakshmi asks, “What happens if a healthy person takes it?” He replies, “It can make the person appear dead, as their pulse becomes nearly undetectable.” He asks Lakshmi why she’s asking about it. She responds casually, “Just like that.” In her mind, Lakshmi thinks, Jia took this medicine to fake her death and frame Karthik. I don’t have proof yet, but I’ll find it and prove Karthik’s innocence.
Meanwhile, Gayatri visits Karthik in jail with food and expresses her concern. Karthik, upset, refuses to talk to her and questions why she accused Lakshmi publicly. Gayatri asks if Lakshmi told him that. Karthik responds, “Lakshmi has done so much for us. Stop blaming her. I overheard two women talking about it in jail. Only Lakshmi can save me now—not even you. If you have a problem with Lakshmi, then the problem is with you. If you can’t accept her, then you might as well cut ties with me.” Gayatri tries to say something, but Karthik ignores her. A constable asks her to leave, and she exits with the food.
Later, Lakshmi sneaks into the mortuary by turning off the lights and diverting the guards. She discovers that the body lying there isn’t Jia’s and realizes that Jia is still alive. When the power comes back, the guards wonder if someone is inside. One guard jokes, “How can dead bodies talk?” Another mentions they need to hand over Jia Kapoor’s body to her family. A third guard asks, “Isn’t it Jia Mehta?” The other replies, “Her last rites have already been performed.” Lakshmi, hiding, overhears this and slips out once the guards leave.
She then arrives at Jia’s final rites, where the pyre is burning and Prema is crying inconsolably. The media questions Prema for her reaction. She says, “Karthik must be punished. Only then will Jia get justice.” Lakshmi thinks, If Jia is truly dead, then what about the medicine? Who killed her? And who is the third person? When the priest gives Prema the ashes (asthi), Lakshmi gets an idea to find out whether Jia is truly alive.
